PETER D. WILLIAMS

BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

3-generation Contractor

 

BUSINESS EXPERIENCE:

BATTLE CREEK, MICHIGAN

1966-1970:      Started punch listing and trimming houses in high school.  Worked for Grelac Property Management Co. in Kalamazoo, running a crew, developing and repairing commercial and income property while completing a B.S. in Business Ed. and auditing a Vocational Trades minor.

1975-6:               Built racquetball clubs for Miami Construction Co.

1977-1981:        Taught Building Construction for Calhoun Area Vocational Center in Battle Creek.  Also got my first contractor’s license.

1982:                   Taught Building Construction for Richland County School District One at Heyward Career Center.

1983:                   Opened Atherm, Inc. as a design-build remodeling company with both Residential License # RBB6958 and Commercial License #G 12680.

1989:                   Named Columbia Remodelor of the Year and National Remodelor of the Month.

1990:                   Chairman, Remodelors Council of Greater Columbia.

1997:                   Secretary, Home Builders Association of Greater Columbia.

1998:                   Vice President, Home Builders Association of Greater Columbia.

1999:                   President, Home Builders Association of Greater Columbia.

2000:                 Developed Manufacturing and Construction Alliance, an advisory group for construction trades education.  Currently chairman.

2002:                  Won the Gordon A. Harrison Award

                                Area co-chair of MEBA Industrial and Engineering Committee, two years.

                                Manpower development for the SC Home Builders, 2002-present.

                                Chairman, Heyward Career Center School Improvement Council, 2005 and 2006.

 

EDUCATION:

                        B.S. Western Michigan University, 1972.

                                Solar Methods and Use, Ferris State College, 1980.

1997:                   National Association of Home Builders Certified Graduate Remodelor.

1999:                   Committee member design of Quality Standards for the Remodeling Industry, published by National Remodelors Council.

1992-2006:     Work Force Investment Board member, Columbia.

2004:                  National Association of Home Builders Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist.
